Placebo
Webster's dictionary defines "placebo" as a "medication prescribed more for the mental relief of a patient than for the actual effect on his disorder, or something tending to sooth." The doctors tell us that if we know we are being treated with a placebo, it does not work. In our minds we must think that it is a real medication and has the strength or power to heal. If the patient believes this, then the treatment has been known to work wonders in many cases that otherwise could not have been treated. Placebo treatment is, in fact, nothing of substance, but in the mind of the patient it is real. In order for this kind of treatment to work, the doctor must convince the patient of the work of the medication. My friend, I declare unto you that this is exact "treatment" that most "mouth-professing" Christians are using today. The doctor administering this "medication" is Satan himself. He gives the "patient" a sugar-coated religion, a shallow experience, and whispers half-truths into his ears. He then tells the "patient" that it is real and that it is all the "patient" needs. Doctor Satan will allow his "patient" to continue to go to church, sing, pray, teach and even preach. But the "patient" will not be allowed to live the life that he confesses with his mouth. On August 3, 1979, Howard Pittmans artery ruptured and died. His spirit was lifted from his body and taken into the Second Heaven where he saw many startling things. He appeared before the Lord in the Third Heaven where he pleaded for an extension of his physical life. It was here that God showed him what kind of life of worship and service to Jesus Christ he had really led. He was given a message to bring back to God's latter rain soldiers in this generation. That message is what this book is all about -- The greatest news since Pentecost!.

Demons: An Eyewitness Account
On August 3, 1979, the greatest miracle of this age happened to me. That day I suffered what appeared to be a physical death as the result of a sudden rupture of an internal artery. While physicians worked frantically on me in an emergency room, my spirit was separated from my body and taken into the spirit world where I was allowed to see many startling things. The details of this experience were reported in some depth in my book entitled Placebo. One area I did not cover as fully as I would have liked is the portion that deals with demons. For this purpose, I am writing this book. It is necessary for me to cover in detail all that experienced and all that was revealed to me regarding the demons and their entire operations in this physical world. It is not my intent to re-examine that portion of my experience which I related in depth in my first book, but rather to cover in greater detail the activities of the demons in this present, physical world. This must be done so that Christians might be forewarned and forearmed. I was allowed to experience this event so that you might know..

The Mystery Demon
Spiritual warfare is real. The Devil is real. Demons are real. Great truths that have been known by every civilization in history In the early history of the Church, a third of a member's times was spent in learning about the reality of this war.An examination of the four Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John reveals that of all the recorded activity of Jesus, about one third of His time was spent in dealing with, teaching about, or exposing the devil and his demons. In fact, the first authority granted to man by Jesus, was NOT the authority to preach or teach, but WAS the authority to deal with demons spirits. (Matthew 10:1)Only in the modern history of the Church have Christians rejected these truths. It was a subtle rejection brought on by a clever designed plan. The plan was designed by our spiritual adversary and implemented through our traditions, line upon line, precept upon precept, until we had been accustomed to the deletion of these great teachings. Our time is short, the ahead is tremendous. We have precious little time to re-learn these great truths. This book is an attempt to bring these truths to the surface in our daily Church life once again..

The Philadelphian
Touted by its original publisher as an exposé and indictment of blue-blooded Philadelphia society, the late Richard Powell's The Philadelphian was released to rave reviews and later became the 1959 Oscar-nominated film, The Young Philadelphians, starring Paul Newman and Robert Vaughn. The Philadelphian was an immediate national bestseller, and in the 50 years since its debut the novel has been widely hailed as Richard Powell's crowning literary achievement. The author's acute sense of irony infuses this raw, powerful saga of a family of humble origins climbing the Philadelphia social ladder. Beginning with the emigration of a poor Irish girl in 1857, the story spans four generations and climaxes with her grandson, an ambitious young defense lawyer, holding the city spellbound in one of the most compelling courtroom scenes ever written. Plexus Publishing, Inc. is delighted to have worked with the author's family to restore The Philadelphian to print after a long and inexplicable hiatus. This 50th anniversary edition includes a new foreword by Oscar nominee Robert Vaughn and, in a special preface, Richard Powell's previously unpublished (and not-to-be-missed) soliloquy, "The Personality of Philadelphia." (Paperback).

The Perennial Philadelphians: The Anatomy of an American Aristocracy (Pennsylvania Paperbacks)
The Perennial Philadelphians tells the story of the city's inherited aristocracy--of Wanamakers and Drexels, of Biddles and Cadwaladers Drawing on history, genealogy, politics, economics, the fine arts, private diaries, and the impressions and anecdotes of myriad living witnesses, Nathaniel Burt paints a fascinating portrait of Old Philadelphians. He traces the succession of a dynasty of doctors or lawyers, explores the country club scene, and takes us to regattas on the Schuylkill, fox hunts in Radnor, and horse shows in Devon.
First published in 1963, this classic text has lost none of its timeliness. An adept social commentator, Burt cuts aside the centuries-old protective coloration in which Old Philadelphians have wrapped themselves, and reveals who these people are and how they manage to perpetuate themselves from generation to generation. .
